Installing AutoVue Client/Server

Installing AutoVue Client/Server includes installing the components that integrate AutoVue Client/Server with Meridian Explorer on the Explorer web server. Installation also includes configuring Explorer to connect to those components when a document should be viewed.

Notes

Before you begin

To install AutoVue Client/Server:

  1. Ensure that the server and client computers meet the hardware and software requirements described in the Oracle AutoVue Client/Server Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide and in the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer Administrator’s Guide.
  2. If an existing installation of AutoVue Client/Server will not be used, perform this step. Otherwise, skip to the next step.

On the computer that will be the AutoVue server, install the AutoVue 2D or AutoVue 3D server software using its respective setup program. Use the instructions for non-integrated installation in the Oracle AutoVue Client/Server Deployment Installation and Configuration Guide. The default installation options are adequate for integration with Meridian Explorer. By default, the software is installed at C:\Oracle\AutoVue.

Tip    These settings configure the AutoVue server as a stand-alone application that can be used outside of Explorer by opening the page at http://<ServerName>/jVue/jVue.html.

  3. On the same computer, run the Meridian Enterprise setup program that contains the same AutoVue Client/Server version as the installed version of Explorer and install the Server-Based Viewing component. This will add the BlueCielo Connector to AutoVue and install a BlueCielo web service in the IIS default website.

Note    Meridian Explorer is compatible with the BlueCielo Connector but not compatible with the web service installed by the Meridian Enterprise Server-Based Viewing component. This will be resolved in the next step.

  4. On the Explorer web server, open the BlueCielo Meridian Explorer Viewing.msi package. The BlueCielo [M] Explorer Viewing 2012 wizard appears.
  5. Click Next. The Select Installation Address page appears.
  6. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.

    Installation address options
    Option Description

    Site

Select the website to host the web service or accept the default. Click Disk Cost to view the impact of continuing installation on the available space of all connected drives.

    Virtual directory

Type a name for the web service or accept the default.

    Application Pool

Select an application pool or accept the default. The application pool must use an identity that has access to the Meridian Explorer repository database.

  7. Click Next. The Confirm Installation page appears.
  8. Click Next. The installation finishes and the Installation Complete page appears.
  9. Click Close.
  10. In Internet Information Services Manager, configure the website to use Anonymous Authentication.
  11. On the Meridian Explorer web server, edit the web.config file as described in Configuring the advanced settings and in the appSettings section configure the options using the descriptions in the following table.

    Client/Server viewer options
    Option Description

    AutoVueServerURL

URL of the AutoVue servlet that you installed in step 2 or that was installed for Meridian Enterprise if it will be used. The default is http://<ServerName>: 5098/servlet/VueServlet. You should only need to configure the server name. If an AutoVue installation for Meridian Enterprise will be used, this setting should be the same as the AutoVue Server URL property of Meridian Enterprise Web Access.

    AutoVueBluePrintWSUrl

URL where the BlueCielo web service is installed if not on the AutoVue server or if installed with a non-default name. The default is blank. For example:

    http://<ServerName>/ExplorerViewing

    AutoVueIsDefault

If set to True, AutoVue Client/Server is the default viewer for Meridian Explorer clients instead of AutoVue Desktop. If set to False, AutoVue Desktop is the default. If AutoVue Desktop is not installed on a client computer, AutoVue Client/Server will be used.

    BlueCieloConnectorURL

URL of the BlueCielo Connector that you installed in step 3. The default is http://<ServerName>:8900/wsclient/servlet/DMS. You should only need to configure the server name. If an AutoVue installation for Meridian Enterprise will be used, this setting should be the same as the BlueCielo Connector URL property of Meridian Enterprise Web Access.

  12. On the Explorer web server, test the web service by opening it in a browser with the following URL. In the address, <VirtualDirectory> is the name that you set for the Virtual Directory option earlier during installation.

    http://<ServerName>/<VirtualDirectory>

A page titled BC [M] Explorer Client - Viewing Service appears if installation is correct to this point.

  13. On the AutoVue server, open the file StartServers.bat in any text editor and verify that the paths are correct for your installation. By default, it is located in C:\Oracle\AutoVue\bin.

  14. NEW  By default, the Jetty application server, the AutoVue servlet, and the BlueCielo connector servlet will be started automatically. If this fails due to system configuration or security issues, the server can be started manually by running StartServers.bat. Two Command Prompt windows and the AutoVue Server console window appear. The windows must stay open but can be minimized. For more information about starting the servers automatically, see Starting the servers automatically.

  15. Test AutoVue Client/Server by opening a document in Meridian Explorer. The AutoVue applet downloads from the web server and opens the selected document.

Notes    To prevent the Java authentication dialog from appearing at the beginning of each viewing session, you may need to configure one or more of the following settings:
